What is Enhanced Language Training (ELT)?

ELT programs provide job-specific, advanced-level English training to adult newcomers to Canada.

The goal of ELT is to provide language training so people can utilize skills and knowledge from past experiences while overcoming language barriers. ELT programs are especially useful for Internationally Educated Professionals (IEP), tradespeople, or those whose work requires a lot of travel.

Generally, ELT programs are equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels 7-10. Many ELT programs also have bridge-to-work assistance, including mentorship, work placements in sectors such as: Accounting; Office Administration and Customer Relations; Engineering; Financial Services; Health and Wellness; Information Technology; and Sales and Marketing. If your are an IEP, there are also different events you can look into. Such events can offer networking or if you’re unemployed, even potential job opportunities. It is a great way to make connections.
