What is ”continuing education”?

Continuing education are courses that let you develop your knowledge and skills in a specific area.

Continuing education courses or course series, a group of courses on one subject, are offered to adults in the community by local school boards, colleges and universities. Continuing education courses are not for credits, but to pursue and develop an interest in a particular field. Most courses offered by education institutions seem to be in the arts field.

Continuing education is also something to add to your resume and something your potential employer may take note of. If you already have a job however, your employer may subsidize any course cost and fit your schedule around classes if the skill your are learning will be valuable to them.

Some continuing education courses offer a certificate at the end of the individual course or at the end of a course series, something you can include in your portfolio for job interviews.
