Story Behind the Need:

• Business group: GWMS – Asset Management Solutions – supporting Scotia and Dynamic mutual funds
• Project: Supporting the Scotia Global Asset Management middle office. There is an on-going regulatory project (Libor Reform) and Investment Data Hub, as well as planning and analysis for FY23 initiatives (Common Investment Platform).
• Reason for request: Backfill

Candidate Value Proposition:

– The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help design and plan business integration on to the Simcorp platform.

Degrees or certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
• CFA or Financial Accounting designation is an asset

Typical Day in Role:

• Main function of this role is the capacity to work with SimCorp on a daily basis
o Updating or changing DEX or DFS
o Trade and security flows into the system
o Update to trade manager module
o Changing collateral information
o Creating new or updating existing portfolio calculations
o Updating reconciliation module
o Using IBOR (Investment Book of Record – trade manager, collateral, reconciliation), not ABOR (Accounting, GL framework)
• Business analysis and configuration of business workflows in SimCorp dimensions
• Daily stand-ups and grooming sessions
• Communicating with portfolio administration middle office team, product owner, BAs, QA, solution architects, etc.
• Gathers requirements from business units
• Aid support team and provide work guidance
• Demonstrates an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities
• Supports one or more highly complex business processes
• About 85% augmenting existing application, remainder creating new

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience and knowledge of SimCorp using applicable modules (and ability to make changes)
• 5+ years’ experience in investment management
• Strong experience SQL and Oracle Database (ability to write queries, manipulate data, etc.)

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Experience with Crystal Reports is an asset

• Team player

Best vs Average:

SimCorp is central to this role, any candidate submitted should have the capacity to make changes in the system. A high proficiency in this application is required. Communication and good team fit will set a candidate apart.

Additional Notes:

• Manulife and HOOPP utilize SimCorp in similar manners
• Not a traditional BA, needs to be able to provide solutions, can configure the system (hands-on)
• A candidate who had exposure to development in the past and the technical function (technical discussions and needs analysis) would be a good fit as well
